ANN Putnam
Ann Putnam was the oldest child of Thomas and Ann Putnam. She was among the first villagers outside the Parris household to be afflicted. Ann engaged in fortune telling, and swore that one time she saw a specter in a coffin. Ann, along with Abigail, became the most active accusers when Betty was sent away. Ann said she had been afflicted by 62 people. Most of the people afflicted and the accusers were related to the Putnam family in some way.
In 1706, Ann apologized for her participation in the Salem Witch Trials. She said, "I desire to be humbled before God. It was a great delusion of Satan that deceived me in that sad time. I did not do it out of anger, malice, or ill-will."
Ann never married and she devoted her life to raising her orphaned siblings, she died at the age of 37.
